School Shootings: Are We Really Surprised?

WARNING:  GRAPHIC CONTENT!

The only thing that surprises me about school shootings is that people are surprised.  Here is a clip of a person “playing” GTA: Grand Theft Auto, one of the most popular “games” amongst school-aged children. When killing people is considered entertainment in the virtual world why are we so surprised when it crosses into the real one?  We are all products of our environment.  This is the environment our children are growing up in.

Forward this to anyone you know who permits children to “play” this or any other “game” where the goal is to kill people.  Ignorance is not bliss and grown-ups need to start taking responsibility for what we are doing to the next generation.  If you are angry about the killing happening around us in the real world, you can start a cultural shift by taking a stand against all the killing in the virtual one. Defending this type of activity makes you a part of the problem.

STOP SUPPORTING VIOLENCE AS ENTERTAINMENT
MURDER SHOULD NOT BE A GAME

p.s.  I am NOT suggesting that every child who engages in this activity will become a killer IRL.  I am questioning why this type of media exists and why a parent would want these thoughts in their child’s mind….or the minds of their classmates.
